Enumeration of Latin squares with conjugate symmetry

چکیده

A Latin square has six conjugate squares obtained by uniformly permuting its (row, column, symbol) triples. We say that a symmetry if at least two of conjugates are equal. enumerate with and classify them according to several common notions equivalence. also do similar enumerations under additional hypotheses, such as assuming the is reduced, diagonal, idempotent or unipotent. Our data corrected an error in earlier literature suggested patterns we then found proofs for, including (1) number isomorphism classes semisymmetric order n equals unipotent + 1, (2) suppose B totally symmetric ≢ 0 mod 3. If paratopic isomorphic.

Enumeration of self-orthogonal Latin squares

The enumeration of self-orthogonal Latin squares (SOLS) of a given order seems to be an open problem in the literature on combinatorial designs. The existence of at least one SOLS is guaranteed for any order except 2, 3 and 6, but it is not known how many of these squares of a given order exist. In this talk we present enumeration tables of unequal SOLS, idempotent SOLS, isomorphism classes of ...

Enumeration of isomorphism classes of self-orthogonal Latin squares

The numbers of distinct self-orthogonal Latin squares (SOLS) and idempotent SOLS have been enumerated for orders up to and including 9. The isomorphism classes of idempotent SOLS have also been enumerated for these orders. However, the enumeration of the isomorphism classes of non-idempotent SOLS is still an open problem. By utilising the automorphism groups of class representatives from the al...

Numerical Enumeration of Greco-Latin Prime Order Associative Magic Squares

A magic square of order n consists of the numbers 1 to n placed such that the sum of each row, column and principal diagonal equals the magic sum n(n +1)/2. In addition, an odd ordered magic square is associative or self-complementary if diagonally opposite elements have the same sum (n +1)/2. The magic square is said to be regular Greco-Latin if it can be decomposed as a sum of a pair of Latin...

Latin Squares with No Transversals

A k-plex in a latin square of order n is a selection of kn entries that includes k representatives from each row and column and k occurrences of each symbol. A 1-plex is also known as a transversal. It is well known that if n is even then Bn, the addition table for the integers modulo n, possesses no transversals. We show that there are a great many latin squares that are similar to Bn and have...

Latin Squares with Forbidden Entries

An n× n array is avoidable if there exists a Latin square which differs from the array in every cell. The main aim of this paper is to present a generalization of a result of Chetwynd and Rhodes involving avoiding arrays with multiple entries in each cell. They proved a result regarding arrays with at most two entries in each cell, and we generalize their method to obtain a similar result for a...
